I haven’t always loved or wanted to own and ride mules. My husband, Charlton, was raised on a farm using mules for work. Years ago after he had retired from trucking and the cattle business, he decided he wanted a mule. ‘A WHAT’, I said? “Everybody will laugh at you.” “Let them laugh,” he replied. And he told me the stories about mules in his childhood.

Well, he managed to get a mule while I rode a horse. THAT didn’t last long. I bought a mule. HOOKED.

Are mules the perfect animal? No. No such critter as perfect animal. Are there bad mules? YUP! Just like horses. BUT, when you get a good mule, THAT mule is better than a good horse.

Are mules for everybody? NOPE. Why, you might ask? Well, are Quarter Horses, Paso Finos, Thoroughbreds, Welsh ponies for everybody? NOPE.

HOWEVER, once you find a good mule you won’t want to NOT have a mule. You might own another horse. We own one at the time of this writing and I will undoubtedly own more. BUT I probably will never NOT own a mule.

I have no problem turning someone down that is either going to be high maintenance or will not be a good match for the animal.

Happy owner usually makes for a happy mule, horse, or donkey.

I have sold trail horses and mules off and on for a decade and sold two mammoth donkeys. Out of all the animals I’ve sold three  people had issues. After checking into the situation it was the owners not the animals that were mostly the problem. I am way more particular now.

I guarantee an animal sound and healthy. Come try that animal out and make sure it is right for you and you for it.
